My name is Eric Rogers and this is my new site dedicated to all things to do with being a mage in World of Warcraft. It is named after my main, Draig. Since he is a gnome mage, I thought it would be fun to approach this site from the perspective of a tinkering gnome.
I had the initial idea for this site all the way back in BC. My guild was working its way though Karazhan. We were fighting Terestian Illhoof. I was pulled in to his Sacrifice. Instinctively, I hit Ice Block, not knowing what, if anything, it would do. If you are a mage and have done that fight, you probably know that Ice Block cancels the Sacrifice. The big benefit to the group is that they can continue to DPS Terestian without having to worry about killing the chains. In a close fight, this can make a big difference.
After that fight, I started thinking about other ways that mages can be a benefit to a group. I thought it might be fun to build a site with guides for different fights specifically from a mage’s perspective. Of course, the idea grew from there to include mage specific guides on macros, addons, and more. I also am going to be doing different “experiments:”. You will find out more about my first experiment, The Loremaster Experiment, tomorrow.
Of course, the question then becomes, who am I and how am I qualified to give others advice on being a mage? The best answer I have for that is simple. I LOVE being a mage. I tried other classes but none of them compare. I am by no means the best mage player out there. But I am dedicated to the class and enjoy learning more about it.
This site is about taking what I learn and passing it on. Hopefully you will find it helpful.
