The countdown for Mists of Pandaria stands at 44 days. I’ve decided it’s time to get serious about preparing Draig for it.
The question I need to answer is, what do I want to get out of Mists? This is a tougher question than it seems on the surface. WoW has become a much different game for me than when I started.
Like most people, I started playing WoW because of my friends. We started a guild (Sovereign Legion) in vanilla and hit our stride in BC. We were able to get Kara on farm status. We killed Gruul several times. However, things started to fall apart for me when we moved on to the tier 5 raids. Raiding with 25 people just wasn’t as fun.
I started to get really excited when I heard about Wrath. Every raid was going to have a 10-man and 25-man version. Most people agreed our best times as a guild was running Kara. We would be able to get back to it with that 10-man option.
However, that’s not how it worked out. The guild had grown to support 25-man groups. It wasn’t going to go back to just running 10-man raids. I leveled to 80 and was able to have fun running dungeons and questing. In the end, though, it wasn’t enough.
Most of my real-life friends lost interest and left. So I did too. I missed Cataclysm completely. I came back in April but by then Mists has been announced. I came back to get ready for it, not to experience Cataclysm.
So what am I getting ready for? With the inclusion of the raid finder, I am thinking about getting back into raiding. I enjoy the process of gearing up for raids. I like to push myself to find the best gear possible before jumping into a raid so I can contribute. I think raiding would be fun but different since it would be with people I don’t know.
I am still in Sovereign Legion. In fact, I’m now the guild master since no one else has been on in over a year. However, the guild fell apart just after the guild leveling system was launched so it’s only level 2. Should I stick with it or try to get into a more active guild? I’m still debating this one.
There are some things I can do no matter what I decide. Here is my to-do list so far:
- Clean out my bank
- Update my addons
- Update my macros
- Ramp up my income
- Create a gear wish-list so I know what I’m targeting in Mists.
- Continue to farm a few mounts
I’m sure there will be more as Mists gets closer but this is a start.
