This post is part of my FPS Blitz.
As a PC gamer, Crysis has been on my radar for a while. Any game that really shows off what can be done on a PC deserves attention. However, I didn’t have the machine to run it when it first came out so I waited. When I finally had a machine that could handle it, I noticed something.
3rd-party DRM: SecuROM™
5 machine activation limit
BAH! I know I have some games that include SecuROM because I haven’t always paid close attention. However, I will not buy games that include activation limits. So no Crysis for me.
My initial reaction to Crysis 2 was mild curiosity. I love shooters so I was interested in how it would be received. However, I had other games I was more interested in so I took a wait-and-see approach.
As I heard people talk about it, my interest grew. Listening to Jeff Cannata talk about it on Weekend Confirmed definitely piqued my interest. I don’t normally buy games at full price, though, so I continued to wait.
Finally, the Steam summer sale hit this July. With every Steam sale I have a game or two that I’m specifically watching. This year, that game was Crysis 2. I was looking for it to hit between 65% and 75% off. Luckily the Maximum Edition (which has no activation limits from what I understand) did so I grabbed it.
So Crysis 2 is going to be my first game in my newly restarted FPS Blitz. I’m looking forward to it.
